Blur Drummer Puts Years Of Drudgery In Chart-Topping Band Behind Him To Qualify As a Solicitor

By |

Congratulations to Dave Rowntree, the drummer from Blur, who has qualified as a solicitor today. Famous band mates Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Alex James were said to be reeling with jealousy as the news was reported by Rowntree (pictured below, far right) on Twitter.

"I am happy to say that after 5 years work, I qualify as a solicitor today," tweeted Rowntree this morning. "Thanks very much to everyone who has helped along the way!"

Members of the public also found themselves looking on enviously at Rowntree's success at finally casting off the shackles of life as a rockstar, with one tweeting...

Despite not holding a degree, Rowntree was admitted to the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) four years ago after the Law Society granted him an exemption on the back of a paralegal stint he'd done for East End of London criminal defence law firm Edward Fail Bradshaw and Waterson.

During the GDL, Rowntree fitted in time to do rehearsals for Blur's 2009 Hyde Park gig. He then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC), before taking up his training contract at high-end white collar crime specialists Kingsley Napley.

But will Rowntree be taken on full-time? The Blur drummer is still listed as a "trainee solicitor" on his firm's website.
