Social media goes wild for Cambridge law student who inspired University Challenge final win

Gonville & Caius College third year Ted Loveday hailed as a genius/heartthrob/all round great guy following virtuoso performance

A law student last night inspired Cambridge’s Gonville & Caius College to victory over Oxford’s Magdalen College in the final of University Challenge with a virtuoso performance that left viewers drooling.

Of Ted Loveday’s question-answering brilliance the captain of the Magdalen team, Hugh Binnie, said:

“It could have been seven against Ted on his own, and he would have won it.”

Loveday’s three teammates were students of natural sciences, medicine and history — further evidence that the rigours of a law degree are the best possible preparation for life at the top.

The highlight of the third year law student’s performance was what BuzzFeed has dubbed “one of the quickest ever responses on University Challenge”. Here it is …
