Law student-led Oxford University a cappella group ‘Out of the Blue’ is back with its latest charity single.

Producing a mash-up version of Ariana Grande’s ‘Into You’ and ‘Greedy’, the musical group — headed up by law student Deon Fang (pictured below) — is raising money on behalf of Oxford-based children’s hospice Helen and Douglas House.

Fang — who was voted one of Britain’s most influential law students by Legal Cheek readers earlier this summer — appears alongside his co-singers in a professional looking music video, released last week.

The group first hit headlines back in 2014 after its rendition of Shakira’s ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ gained widespread media coverage. The music video — which was spotted and subsequently tweeted by Shakira herself — gained more than six million views and raised almost £10,000 for charity.

Now back with their latest musical medley, Fang and co’s camp-tastic video features some pretty sweet dance moves and has already racked up almost 15,000 views in a matter of days.

Music skills aside, Fang’s legal credentials are enough to make even a top law student green with envy.

The Oxford student has (according to his LinkedIn) completed vacation schemes at Linklaters, Baker & McKenzie, Slaughter and May, Skadden and Allen & Gledhill. As well as a host of prizes and scholarships to his name, the ‘Out of the Blue’ president also spent two years as a sergeant in the Singapore armed forces. Not bad ‘ey?

Last Christmas the group released its own version of Eartha Kitt’s 1953 hit ‘Santa Baby’. With Fang — who is in the final year of his BA in Jurisprudence — once again taking the lead, the video clocked up almost 250,000 views on YouTube.
