Global law firm K&L Gates will be hosting a party to celebrate the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

To be hosted at K&L Gates’ Washington DC office in two weeks time, the ‘Amer-I-Can pre-inauguration day party’ costs $1,000 to attend and will honour a number of people likely to be influential in the Trump administration.

Readers may be particularly familiar with the Republican’s leading lawyer Michael Cohen, who tweeted in September he thought God had already chosen his client for the presidency because he saw a (sort of) Trump-shaped cloud.

Former The Apprentice contestant Omarosa Manigault, a pastor from Cleveland called Darrell Scott and Bruce Levell, Executive Director of the National Diversity Coalition for Trump, are also going to be honoured.

On top of that, a promo poster of the daytime soirée (pictured below) shows there’s quite a selection of special guests.

American footballer Ray Lewis, newsreader Kimberly Guilfoyle and retired basketball coach Bobby Knight are all expected to be knocking about at the event. Sounds great.

So is this a bad move on K&L Gates’ part?

Given Trump’s innate controversy, it’s certainly an interesting one. But, whether you like Trump or not, his influence will only continue to grow and law firms often feel under pressure to keep the administration on side. Whether this inauguration party will spark a chain of US law firms sucking up to the politician remains to be seen, but it’s likely some of Trump’s values will gradually begin to be reflected in businesses and law firms alike over the next few years.
