Ex-BPP head honcho Peter Crisp has accepted a new a role at The University of Law (ULaw).

Crisp, who stepped down from his CEO role at BPP University’s law school earlier this summer, will be installed as ULaw’s new ‘Pro Vice-Chancellor — External’ on 2 January 2018.

Crisp, a qualified barrister who specialises in property law, was at BPP’s helm for 20 years. He now joins ULaw’s executive management team, led by vice-chancellor and CEO Professor Andrea Nollent.

Back in July, Legal Cheek reported on industry rumours claiming that Crisp had already been offered a senior position at ULaw. At the time, both the law school giant and Crisp remained tightlipped.

“This is a very exciting time for me to join ULaw, and I am very much looking forward to embracing the opportunities of the role as the university continues to go from strength to strength,” Crisp has now commented. He continued:

“I am pleased to be beginning this new chapter in my career, and I hope to make a valuable contribution to the university’s continued growth and success.”

According to ULaw, Crisp will oversee its business development and client relationship teams. Crisp is well-connected to outfits across the City, which may help ULaw in its ongoing battle with BPP to score firms’ Legal Practice Course (LPC) training deals.

Nollent, responding to Crisp’s appointment, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Peter to The University of Law. The future changes to legal qualifications offer many opportunities for innovation and enhancement. The university will continue to drive new initiatives in the sector with a clear focus on delivering excellence to our clients, our law firm partners, and our students.”

Meanwhile, BPP confirmed earlier this year that former litigation solicitor Andrew Chadwick would be filling Crisp’s formidable shoes. Interestingly, Chadwick made the switch to BPP having spent 19 years in various management roles at ULaw (then the College of Law).
