Famous for its golden, sandy beaches along the south coast, Bournemouth is home to over 25,000 students. Bournemouth University also teaches the GDL, so you’ll be able to tap into its wider student experience, even as a postgrad on a one-year course.
Bournemouth’s GDL is a standard affair, where you’ll be learning the seven core units of law, plus a research paper on an area of your choice. But the surrounding seaside city has its individual perks.
Students say a must-do is taking the Bournemouth hot air balloon and flying down to the seafront. The pier is another student favourite. With a bright arcade and the option to zip wire over the sea, it’s a great place to take your mind off exams which, on the GDL, always come around quicker than you think.
The student town comes alive every night. With Caribbean food and cocktails, Aruba is a popular and exotic bar overlooking the beach. In fact there are many seaside pubs, clubs and quirky cafés. Oh, and Lord Sandwich is apparently the king of sarnie shops in Bournemouth.
