Cartoon creation maps the trials and tribulations of law student life
A series of law school-themed comic strips created by the new US Vice President has surfaced online.
Donald Trump’s right-hand man, Mike Pence, attended Indiana University’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law back in the 1980s.
Having spent a number of years as a lawyer in private practice, Pence — turning his back on the law — landed a gig at a right-wing think tank before eventually making the move into politics.
But what many people might not know is that during his law school days the Vice President was a budding comic book artist.
According to art and culture blog Hyperallergic, Pence landed a regular slot in his local school newspaper, Dictum. In a series called ‘Law School Daze’, Pence brought to life the trials and tribulations of life as a law student.
*Disclaimer: some of his strips are distinctly unfunny and others are just downright bizarre*
In one doodle, Pence depicted law students complaining about medical students using their library facilities.
In another, he sketched a third-year student sharing some pointers about parking with a law fresher.
One edition of ‘Law School Daze’ appears to take aim at “big” law firms who only want to employ “aggressive men”.
While in another sketch, Pence drew a weary-looking law graduate with a diploma and briefcase in hand.
