Gowling WLG ups London NQ solicitor pay by 8% to £71,000

Birmingham bunch also handed rises

Multinational law firm Gowling WLG has upped pay for its newly qualified (NQ) solicitors.

The firm’s London lot will now receive a salary of £71,000, a healthy rise of 8% from £66,000, while those in Birmingham start lawyer life on £44,000 — a bump of 4% from £42,500. Trainee pay remains unchanged: £40,500 in year one and £44,000 in year two for London rookies, and £28,000 rising to £31,000 in year two for those in Birmingham.

Legal Cheek‘s Firms Most List shows Gowling’s NQs in London are on a pay par with their opposite numbers at Bird & Bird and Osborne Clarke, and £1,000 better off than those at Addleshaw Goddard, Clyde & Co, Fieldfisher and Watson Farley & Williams.
