Grayling’s department “looking at how improving prisoners’ reading skills helps to reduce reoffending” — after banning books in prisons and getting smacked down by courts

Today is World Book Day and the Ministry of Justice is keen to be part of it, tweeting this morning …

That’s the same Ministry of Justice which recently imposed a ban on sending books to prisoners as part of a crackdown by its leader, Chris Grayling.

Happily, that ban was ruled unlawful by the High Court in December when Mr Justice Collins said he could see “no good reason” to restrict access to books for prisoners.

And now the MoJ wants to jump on board the World Book Day bandwagon?!

No wonder Twitter is in uproar, with the MoJ this morning getting pilloried for its “breathtaking hypocrisy” by angry tweeters.
