They have surprisingly normal names

Human rights barrister Amal Clooney and hubby George have welcomed a baby boy and a baby girl into the world.

The Doughty Street Chambers barrister, 39, has named her children Alexander and Ella — surprisingly normal baby names in the celebrity world. George’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, said:

Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine.

The Hollywood star isn’t doing so well. Rosenfield joked: “Geroge is sedated and should recover in a few days.”

The parents of the Oxford-educated barrister have also spoken about Alexander and Ella’s arrival. Baria Alamuddin told French publication AFP:

We are over the moon! It was a beautiful delivery. The babies are beautiful and are doing well.

While the former Sullivan & Cromwell solicitor’s father, Ramzi Alamuddin, said:

They are in great heath. All is perfect. I am very happy for them.

The reaction on social media has predictably been one of joy and congratulations. We particularly enjoyed this tweet from human rights specialist Shoaib Khan:

Though no official photos of Alexander and Ella have been released yet, Legal Cheek couldn’t help but speculate about what the twins would look like. Back in February when Clooney’s pregnancy was announced, and with the aid of several (kind of weird) baby generating apps and websites, we previewed some photos of what the bundle of joys may look like.

Here were the results:
