Solicitor turned Tory candidate produces incredible Alan Partridge-esque election video

Sir Greg Knight’s campaign clip has gone viral

A former solicitor turned Conservative party candidate has sent Twitter into meltdown after producing a hilarious Alan Partridge-esque election video.

Sir Greg Knight — who qualified as a solicitor in 1973 having previously studied at the College of Law (now The University of Law) in Guildford — has starred in a one-minute campaign clip in which he explains why Britain will be in safe hands under a Conservative government.

Seeking re-election in East Yorkshire in Thursday’s election, IT law specialist Knight can be seen entering a Conservative poster-clad office sporting a blue blazer and chino combo. Addressing the camera directly, Knight urges people to back Prime Minister Theresa May instead of a “coalition of chaos” headed up by Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn.

Having finished his short piece to camera, the video — only surfacing on Twitter this morning despite being published on YouTube last month — then shifts to a bizarre 80s-style song featuring custom lyrics. It says:

You’ll get accountability, with Conservative delivery. Make sure this time you get it right, vote for Greg Kniiiiiight!

Racking up over 125,000 views, many Twitter users have suggested Knight’s video has taken inspiration from fellow blazer and chino loving fictional radio host Alan Partridge:

Partridge, played by actor Steve Coogan, is known for his on-air awkwardness and passion for 80s music. Lovely stuff Knight.
