Changing direction: How to successfully convert into law — with The College of Legal Practice

Tuesday 4 August, 4pm to 6pm, taking place virtually

Join us on the afternoon of Tuesday 4 August for a virtual student event all about the law conversion route into the profession, run in partnership with The College of Legal Practice.

The session, which runs from 4pm to 6pm, features a panel of speakers including The College of Legal Practice’s GDL Module Leader alongside former GDL students who completed the conversion course for a range of career goals. Hear first-hand from graduates who have gone on to pursue the SQE, train as barristers, and take different routes into the legal profession.

Date: Tuesday 4 August 2026
Time: 4pm to 6pm
Location: Virtual event
Level: Students, Graduates

We will kick off the event with short talks from our speakers followed by a Q&A session hosted by Legal Cheek. You’ll gain practical insights into what it’s really like to study the GDL, make the transition from a non-law background, and choose the qualification pathway that’s right for you.

The speakers

• Kathryn Dutton, module leader for The College of Legal Practice’s Graduate Diploma in Law
• Further speakers to be announced

There will then be an opportunity to ask further questions during the virtual networking element of the event, where each speaker will be available to discuss their experiences and journeys in greater depth, as well as find out further information about the College’s Graduate Diploma in Law programme.

Apply to attend. You’ll be asked to submit two questions for the speakers.
