How to qualify as a solicitor in-house

Wednesday 31 January, 4pm to 6pm, taking place virtually

Join us on the afternoon of Wednesday 31 January 2024 for a virtual student event all about training in-house in the legal team of a company.

Lawyers from Zilch and Nissan Motor will share their insights into this route – which is becoming increasingly popular under the new SQE regime, as it opens up new options to qualify as a solicitor.

We’ll then compare how the in-house experience differs from the traditional private practice training contract, with Jakob Sexton, early careers specialist at Brabners giving the law firm training perspective.

Date: Wednesday 31 January 2024
Time: 4pm to 6pm
Location: Virtual event
Level: Students, Graduates

Rounding off the speaker roster will be a recent SQE graduate who has spent time both in-house and at a law firm during their Qualifying Work Experience (QWE).

The speakers

Natalie Salunke, general counsel of Zilch
Joan Scott, commercial legal counsel at Nissan Motor
Jakob Sexton, early careers specialist at Brabners
Pedro Leake Bandeira, trainee solicitor at Accutrainee who has completed his SQE1 and SQE2 exams with BARBRI
Robert Dudley, head of employability and engagement at BARBRI

After short talks and a panel discussion there will be virtual networking with the speakers and BARBRI SQE experts.

Apply to attend. You’ll be asked to submit two questions for the speakers.
