How to stand out and break into the legal profession — with BARBRI

Tuesday 19 May, 4pm to 5:30pm, taking place virtually

Join us on the afternoon of Tuesday 19 May for Legal Cheek‘s latest virtual student event, in partnership with BARBRI, designed to give aspiring solicitors the practical tools they need to compete and succeed in today’s legal market.

Whether you’re targeting a training contract or building your Qualifying Work Experience (QWE), breaking into the legal profession has never been more competitive. This event looks to cut through the noise to focus on what actually works, from standing out in applications to making meaningful connections and telling your story with confidence.

Date: Tuesday 19 May 2026
Time: 4pm to 5:30pm
Location: Virtual event
Level: Students, Graduates

The session will open with a crash course from BARBRI’s careers and employability manager Steph Day, covering the four pillars every aspiring solicitor needs to master: aligning your career goals with the legal market, building a personal brand that gets noticed, developing genuine networking skills, and crafting a compelling narrative around your experience and aspirations. Steph will share practical advice you can start using straight away.

Steph Day, careers and employability manager at BARBRI
Robert Dudley, head of employability & engagement at BARBRI

Following the presentation, Robert Dudley, head of employability and engagement at BARBRI, will chair a Q&A and panel discussion, opening the floor to wider conversation and exploring the challenges students face on the road to qualification and how to navigate them.
