Project finance 101: Deconstructing the deal — with White & Case

Monday 23 November, 4pm to 6pm, taking place virtually

Join us for a virtual student event on the afternoon of Monday 23 November with international law firm White & Case, breaking down a project finance deal.

Behind each new wind farm, power plant, or data centre lies a carefully orchestrated web of contracts, sponsors, lenders, and debt. This is project finance, and only through these delicately structured deals can large-scale, long-term projects go ahead. White & Case’s lawyers advise sponsors, lenders, developers, and equity investors on energy, infrastructure and natural resources projects worldwide.

Date: Monday 23 November 2026
Time: 4pm to 6pm
Location: Virtual event
Level: Students, Graduates

Using a typical transaction as the blueprint, counsel Miles Tonkin and associate Bethany Carter will deconstruct the structure of a deal, from the special purpose vehicle at its centre to the financing, construction, and revenue agreements orbiting it. They will explain how these deals work, the challenges of this complex, multi-jurisdictional area, and how global events can affect the work on the ground.

The speakers will also reflect on their own career paths, discuss a typical day in project finance and consider the skills students need to thrive in this international, cross-disciplinary area of law.

Following the presentation and Q&A, attendees will have the opportunity to network virtually with the speakers, White & Case trainees and members of the firm’s early careers team.

Apply to attend. You will be asked to submit two questions to the firm.
