Wiggin — solicitor apprenticeship

The Legal Cheek View

This is the Wiggin profile for those considering solicitor apprenticeships. Students looking to apply for training contracts should check out Legal Cheek‘s main Wiggin profile.

Media and entertainment titan Wiggin are rolling out the red carpet for solicitor apprentices. With a specialist offering for those seeking a star-studded solicitor apprenticeship, Wiggin offers its recruits a behind the scenes insight into everything media, technology, and IP. Shining brightly amongst the firm’s roster of high-profile clientele are companies such as Disney, Warner Media, Sky, Sony, and Netflix. Sitting in the firm’s London office, the firm’s two apprentices will likely get their fill of sparkly legal work, from IP litigation to contract negotiation.

Cutting to the chase of the Wiggin solicitor apprenticeship offering, apprentice hopefuls can expect a total of eight seat rotations over the six-year scheme. Starting with four annual rotations in the first four years, experienced apprentices will then undertake the firm’s training contract rotation in years five and six. The Wiggin TC sees recruits rotate six-monthly over two years, with the potential for fifth and sixth-year apprentices to repeat any of their previous seats (although this is not always guaranteed). So, rookies can look forward to an intimate insight into many media-related practices.

When it comes to their education, apprentices will work towards their law degree part-time during the first four years, spending four days of the week working full-time and one day studying with The University of Law (ULaw). In their TC years, experienced apprentices will embark on the Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE), emerging as debt-free and fully qualified by the end of their six-year stint.

And, on the social side, it’s cool-kid reputation definitely follows Wiggin into its social scene. Sporty rookies can dip their toes into Wiggin’s sports clubs, with a football team, ski trips, and cycle challenges. More musically-motivated socialites can look forward to the firm’s infamous biennial music festival dubbed Wigstock. Yes, you read that right — its own music festival (!). And, on top of the usual firm-wide social events during the summer and Christmas periods, apprentices can also get involved in the firm’s internal networks. With LGBTQ+, ethnic and cultural heritage, and charity committees, apprentices will have the opportunity to socialise at and take part in events for the wider community.
