What we know so far
The City Law School, part of City, University of London, covers all aspects of legal training — offering the LLB, LLM, GDL, LPC, and soon a preparation course for the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE).
City Law School has strong ties to the London business community, which could be a pull factor for students if it chooses to integrate this with its new SQE options.
City Law School is yet to announce its SQE offering, including fees, and sources tell us courses won’t be starting until after the transitional years of 2021/22. So watch this space.
What we do know is former City lawyer James Catchpole is leading the law school’s SQE strategy. Catchpole is the associate dean for postgraduate and professional degree programmes as well as the law school’s director of legal practice. He has years of experience as a curriculum and course designer, having led teams at law school competitors The University of Law and Queen Mary, University of London.
