All 11 autumn qualifiers commit their future to firm

City outfit Mishcon de Reya has revealed an impressive retention rate of 100%, holding on to all 11 trainees due to qualify this autumn.

Mishcon — which specialises in media and private client work — offers around 15 training contracts annually. However the firm is less forthcoming with regards to remuneration and does not disclose how much it pays its newly qualified (NQ) lawyers.

The fresh-faced associates will be split across five of the outfit’s key practice areas. Three will be heading to Mishcon’s real estate department, meanwhile corporate, employment, dispute resolution and private client will receive two new lawyers each.

Today’s news marks an improvement on firm’s 2015 autumn performance. Posting a retention result of 85%, 11 newbies — from a cohort of 13 — committed their future to the firm.

Last Friday Anglo-German giant Freshfields and City outfit King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) revealed contrasting retention scores.

While Freshfields trumpeted an impressive trainee retention rate of 95%, keeping hold of 40 out of 42 of its NQs, KWM could only muster an autumn score of 57%, with just eight trainees — from a cohort of 14 — staying on as associates.
