Not since the early sixties when Beatlemania gripped first Britain and then the world has such an outpouring of mob enthusiasm been witnessed.
It’s only a matter of time before Lord (David) Neuberger — the current president of the UK’s top court — starts making controversial comments about being more popular than Jesus.
This tweeted image shows the pop sensation being swarmed by adoring — and undoubtedly, slightly faint — fans at a gig last night at the University of East London.
It will be a Royal Variety Performance next before heading to America for whatever is the modern equivalent of the Ed Sullivan Show. Right on, Dave.
