A paralegal at Bond Dickinson has become an internet sensation after she attended a horse riding event wearing the same yellow puffer jacket as 16 other people.

Ria Hattam, a paralegal at the national outfit’s Plymouth office, was seemingly thrilled to discover her chic jacket was this season’s must-have item of clothing at the prestigious Badminton Horse Trials in South Gloucestershire.

Embracing the strange coincidence, the 24-year-old began posing for photographs of herself stood next to her coat-clad counterparts — all 16 of them!

Hattam — who studied sociology and criminology at the University of Portsmouth, graduating in 2014 — shared the collection of snaps on her personal Facebook page this week and it quickly went viral, racking up over 8,500 likes and 2,700 shares.

So successful was the post, Hattam’s hashtag #followtheyellowcoatgirl even started trending across the social media site. Commenting on her new-found internet fame yesterday evening, she posted:

Holy Christ this is the craziest week ever…. I am literally done!! 😂😂😂😂 #followtheyellowcoatgirl

The comments on this are going to be a load of bitching and moaning about how this isn’t proper news and isn’t Legal Cheek crap, blah blah blah. So I thought I’d get in quickly to say:

1. Love it.

2. This is the sort of mindless crap I come to Legal Cheek for to distract from the horror that is my working life.

3. All the naysayers can jog on. You want serious legal news? Go pleasure yourself to The Lawyer and their ilk.

I see Thomas Connelly started commenting under his own ‘articles’. Top work.

1. How dare you ascribe my comment to someone else.

‘A paralegal at Bond Dickinson’s Plymouth office.’

Blimey, that’s about as bad as it gets.

You have to start somewhere. I would not be surprised if she ended up at somewhere like Jones Day. She seems like a good person, and she also has a nice smile. Although she does look much better in her Facebook photos than her LinkedIn one.

Recruitment? That’s a change. Normally when we speak to you its with a crying trainee in the room who we need to pay off.

We also recruit nice people. If my trainees are well behaved I reward them with an extra custard cream.

A position also known as ‘Rock Bottom’. They even put this on their business cards (if there’s enough money left to print out a few).

No, silly, it’s just happening in Badminton.

If we had better court reporting, we might know what the horses are on trial for.

A bigger challenge would be finding anyone wearing a “Lord Denning is my Homeboy” t-shirt.
