Geopolitical risk, trade and the law — with Clifford Chance (in-person)

Thursday 4 September, 4pm to 6:30pm, taking place IN-PERSON at Clifford Chance, London

Join us on Thursday 4 September for an in-person student event with Clifford Chance.

The theme is geopolitical risk and trade, a powerful force that is increasingly shaping the global business landscape. Recent geopolitical developments have fundamentally altered the nature of international trade, leading to a period of uncertainty and market disruption.

Lawyers from Clifford Chance’s London team, representing a range of practice areas, will share their experiences advising on international trade matters around the world. They will explore how they are helping the firm’s clients navigate the challenges posed by sanctions, shifting tariffs, and evolving export controls.

Date: Thursday 4 September 2025
Time: 4pm to 6:30pm
Location: Clifford Chance, 10 Upper Bank Street, London, E14 5JJ
Level: Students, Graduates

The discussion will examine the impact of the Trump administration’s tariff policies, the growing tensions between the US and China, and Asia’s efforts to influence the direction of globalisation. Drawing on real-world examples, the lawyers will illustrate their role in this complex environment and provide insights into the strategic advice the firm’s clients seek.

The speakers

Jessica Gladstone, partner in the international arbitration team
Alex Panayides, partner in the international arbitration team
