Legal Cheek is back in Hong Kong for an *in-person* student panel event in partnership with The University of Law (ULaw) on the topic of ‘how to make it as an international lawyer’.

The event takes place on the evening of Tuesday 30 August in The Dragon Room of The Hong Kong Bankers Club, a private members club located in the Central business district, and features lawyers and graduate recruitment teams from Clifford Chance, Linklaters and White & Case, alongside a careers expert from ULaw.

Date: Tuesday 30 August 2022
Time: 6pm to 8:30pm
Location: The Hong Kong Bankers Club, The Dragon Room, 3/F, Nexxus Building, 41 Connaught Road Central, Central, Hong Kong
Level: Students, Graduates

The speakers will share their career journeys, including how they made it into their respective firms and practice areas, their day-to-day undertakings in the Hong Kong offices of international law firms, as well as careers advice and how to obtain a training contract at their firms.

The speakers

Jessica Zhou, capital markets partner at White & Case and graduate recruitment partner for the Hong Kong office. Jessica is dual-qualified in Hong Kong and the US, and previously worked in the Hong Kong and New York offices of another leading international law firm.
Ying Fu, energy and infrastructure partner at Linklaters, co-chair of the firm’s Gender Equality Network in Hong Kong and part of its Asia ESG steering committee. Ying qualified and practised in London before moving to Hong Kong.
Eunice Leung, registered foreign lawyer specialising in corporate law at Clifford Chance, Hong Kong. Eunice has previously worked in Australia.
Knut Fournier, US-qualified lawyer and senior tutor at The University of Law’s Hong Kong campus. Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Knut worked in the US, Europe, Brazil and China.

Also up for discussion will be the future of the international legal market, with a particular focus on Hong Kong as Covid restrictions ease further and the city opens up once again. And we’ll also be hearing from ULaw about the benefits of being dual-qualified as the global legal education provider launches a US Bar Preparation Course with Themis Bar Review this autumn, preparing students for the New York and California bar exams.

After the Q&A panel discussion, which will be chaired by Legal Cheek features editor Aishah Hussain, there will be networking over drinks and canapés with the speakers, trainees and members of their graduate recruitment teams.
