Why tax is interesting — with Pinsent Masons

Thursday 9 October, 4pm to 6pm, taking place virtually

Join us on the afternoon of Thursday 9 October for a virtual student event with Pinsent Masons.

The theme is tax – and, specifically, why it’s one of the most interesting practice areas out there.

Making the case for tax will be a panel of Pinsent Masons lawyers led by legal director Penny Simmons.

With tax very much in the news at the moment, amid a focus on how Western governments will fund their growing debt without recourse to spending cuts, there is much to talk about.

Date: Thursday 9 October 2025
Time: 4pm to 6pm
Location: Virtual event
Level: Students, Graduates

For tax lawyers like Simmons, acting for companies who are being forced to think about tax harder than ever, it’s been a busy time.

Simmons and her colleagues will discuss their work at the intersection of politics, business and the law, highlighting interesting recent work and reflecting on the qualities lawyers need to excel in this area.

After short talks and a panel discussion there will be virtual networking with the speakers, Pinsent Masons trainees and members of the firm’s early talent team.

Apply to attend. You’ll be asked to submit two questions for the speakers.
