Top lawyers to share views and advice at free Wednesday evening student event

A leading Osborne Clarke partner who specialises in advising high growth tech businesses will speak alongside a top real estate partner from Shoosmiths at Legal Cheek’s innovation-themed student event in Reading next week (Wednesday 12 June).

Jeff Chang and Matt Walker will be joined by Christopher Cameron, a junior solicitor from Blandy & Blandy with a practice that spans data protection, IP and wider commercial work. Meanwhile, giving a legal education and careers perspective will be Sarah Pooley, the dean of The University of Law’s Reading and Guildford campuses.

Date: Wednesday 12 June 2019
Time: 5:30pm-8:30pm
Location: London Road campus of The University of Reading
Level: Students, Graduates

In a discussion chaired by Legal Cheek founder Alex Aldridge, the quartet will discuss how they are working to deliver legal services in a more efficient way with the help of new technologies such as artificial intelligence. They will also consider the changing role of lawyers in an environment of greater automation, and advise students on how to best position themselves as they prepare to enter the profession at an exciting time.

There will be plentiful opportunities, too, to ask the speakers about their own career journeys and seek wider advice about getting into commercial law.

After the Question Time-style discussion, there will be drinks and networking with the speakers and a collection of the firms’ trainees and members of their graduate recruitment teams.

Apply to attend. The event is open to all students. You’ll be asked to submit a CV and two questions for the panel.
