International law firm King & Wood Mallesons hosts debate about impact of proposed changes that could revolutionise legal education and training

super-exam

The London office of international firm King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) is holding a debate to get students’ views about plans to scrap the GDL and LPC and bring in a new solicitor super-exam.

An audience of 30 students and junior lawyers will grill a panel of experts — made up of Solicitors Regulatory Authority training boss Julie Brannan, BPP University Law School director of LPC programmes Jo-Anne Pugh, KWM head of talent David Ball, and Sarah Hutchinson, chair of the Academic and Professional Development Committee of the International Bar Association and managing director of Barbri — on the proposed changes.

Will the mooted overhaul of traditional vocational legal education from next year save students time and money? Will it promote diversity? Or is there a risk that the changes simply devalue the solicitor qualification while creating pointless upheaval?

The free session takes place from 6-7pm on Wednesday 24 February at KWM’s London headquarters. Afterwards there will be drinks and networking.

Apply to attend here. You’ll be asked to submit a CV and two questions for the panel. Students of all levels and law graduates are welcome to apply.

The CVs of all students selected to attend will be shared with KWM’s graduate recruitment team, which will also be in attendance at the session.
