Legal Cheek is partnering with the London office of leading US law firm Shearman & Sterling to hold an exclusive debate about the General Election for students.

The session takes place on the evening of Monday 5 June — three days before the UK goes to the polls — at Shearman’s City of London base.

Competition law partner James Webber and finance associates Andrea Hutchinson and Tim Waterson will answer questions from an audience of 60 students about what the election means for the City and UK business. Chairing the discussion will be Legal Cheek features editor Katie King.

Also on the agenda will be Brexit and the future of the UK-US trade deal. With Shearman & Sterling a major force on both sides of the Atlantic and in the EU, students will have a unique opportunity to hear directly from experts about these macro issues.

After the hour-long Q&A, running between 6-7pm, there will be drinks and networking until 8pm.

Apply to attend here. You’ll be asked to submit a CV and two questions for the panel. The CVs of those offered places will be passed on to Shearman & Sterling’s graduate recruitment team.

Students of all levels are welcome, but places are limited.
